The beauty is that such an effect is never consistent. Sometimes feeling the burning touches the emotions of joy, sorrow or gratitude and often tears of gratitude or joy will flow freely. Other times, it will touch the emotions of excitement causing Cheshire grins and deep animated happiness. Often the warmth of the spirit will cause goosebumps, which is a natural consequence of intense inner warmth. Sometimes it brings great peace and comfort in times of sorrow, a peace that passeth the understanding of the non-spiritual observer, who cannot comprehend such peace in the face of adversity or grief. Sometimes it is a simple as the tingling fire, lending supporting clarity to thoughts and enlightenment of the mind.
Now, just because the presence of the intensified spirit effects the body, it does not logically follow that emotion, goosebumps, happiness, tears, etc. are always a result of the spirit. Sometime we cry because a story is sad, or are happy because some good thing just happened. It is also true that sometimes Satan will try to use pure emotion, to deceive us into thinking we are having a spiritual moment. One of the most common I have heard is from persons saying that they prayed about a positive choice and felt “good about it”. There, as willful humans, we must proceed with caution. Usually when we want something good we will feel good about it. Feeling good about something is not necessarily the same as feeling the burning in the bosom testifying that our decision is acceptable and pleasing unto God. There are many times I do things because I feel good about doing them. For me at least, that is a different thing then filling the burning, tingling manifestation of the spirit verifying that a choice I have made and am presenting to God for confirmation, is right, moral, correct and pleasing unto God.
