It is only in the lesser, fleshy world of Eros, where those battling with Same Gender Attraction, while also wanting to obey God, may be led to feel they can never be happy... never find true fulfillment.
My witness is that such a belief is false. Aside from the indisputable fact that all trials, temptations, thorns in the flesh can be healed by the atonement of Jesus Christ, it is also true that a Same Gender Attracted individual can still find great joy and peace in the other, higher forms of love, which are neither informed by, nor reliant upon, sexual attraction.
Such persons can relish in Phileo, and be lifted, even overwhelmed by the power of Agape. They can choose to recognize that sexual gratification is a minuscule, even non-essential part of relationships. Such persons can follow the counsel given by God to Samuel (I Samuel 16:7), looking upon the heart rather than the outward appearance, and thus move from a self-centered fixation on the target of the eyes of lust, and seek to be filled with the purer love. In so doing they may please God and fulfill the measure of their creation, all of it, within the eternal beauties of those higher, holier, forms of love.
One of the sweetest blessing of the millennial reign is that Eros, and the selfishness that governs it, will no longer be upon the earth. The corrosive effects of it will be gone, and Phileo and Agape will rule all relationships. It is my yearning for that day, that is one of the reasons for my oft repeated plea; Maranatha, …..Come Lord Jesus.
Until He does come, we must strive to reject Eros, and the worlds view of its import in our lives. We should strive for Phileo and Agape, and break free from the myopic and confining worldly view of love, which is in fact nothing more than lust. Therein lies real joy, deep peace, and perfect fulfillment. Therein, can our lives reflect the Lord’s will, and we can bring Him, and his children, true joy.
