When she awakens she finds herself in a virtual world of peace and contentment, suddenly free from sorrow, pain, worry, and fear. Her controlling benefactress has blocked any thoughts from reaching her, which might bring with them the anguish that often comes with reality...with truth. She is being held captive in a fantasy world and living a lie, in order that she might have peace.
I am not sure if it was the similarity of her situation to Satan’s plan of stifled growth, or just my deep love of freedom….. but something inside me wanted her to escape from her fantasy world, even knowing that in so doing she would again be exposed to grief from the deaths of her loved ones, and the deep sorrow from the transformation of her dearly loved friend into a vicious enemy combatant.
I get that the truth sometimes hurts, that reality can be fraught with pain, that truth can be uncomfortable and stressful. However, it is also clear to me that living a false narrative is an enemy to growth which dams our progress and is the antithesis to our very purpose of becoming.
I understand how one could, in order to appease others, support them in their false narrative, particularly when confrontation brings only rejection or ridicule. I've felt the powerful draw of the idea of living in a fantasy world free from sorrow and pain, but I also know that the power of that desire decimated our heavenly family as 1/3 of our bothers and sisters opted to support that false narrative. Sadly, the Destroyer continues offering his appealing narrative to the rest of us as we work through our second estate.
The danger with adopting false narratives, and supporting them with fuzzy logic, misjudgments, wresting of scripture, corruption of doctrine, etc. is this; While such narratives may in fact bring a measure of peace, increase the unity that comes with condoning, heighten the relative quiet that appeasement can bring, and even improve the transient comfort of a contention free life as we unitedly agree to eat, drink and be merry…the fact remains that one day the truth will be known.
False narratives do not change truth, they hide it. Truth will prevail, and no child of God can be saved in ignorance, even if the ignorance is adopted and shared with the kindly meant purpose of bringing peace or appeasing others.
Living in a false narrative can lead its captive to fight to maintain it at all costs, and thus it becomes the death nail to our very purpose in life, that of becoming. We cannot become all our Heavenly Parents intended for us, while we are living a lie, or helping others to so live. That being the case, true love, the charity that is defined as the love of Christ, requires us to embrace truth, and speak truth, even when it hurts.
If we truly love God we must accept the truth,no matter how it hurts. If we truly love others we must not be afraid to teach them truth, to help them correct their misconceptions, to bring them to the Holy Spirit which will correct the false beliefs they have conveniently embraced, because they fit nicely within their personal narratives. Love moves us to strive to help all we love to break free from their own false narratives and to embrace the true narratives that are found in and through Jesus Christ. Correction may bring some pain, some regret, some sorrow, to our loved ones, but Jesus will change that all into rejoicing, and the experiences will act as a catalyst for becoming, which in the end will bring true joy, lasting peace, actual freedom and life eternal in a real and blessed world.
