Roles are Essential to Victory
Only 25 seconds remained on the clock when the team’s 1st string Center, fouled out. The score was tied. The coach, whose overarching purpose was victory, looked to the bench of his small university team. There remained only two players. One was a talented Guard, whom she had been substituting in with the other Guards during the game, to help keep up their energy.
The other player was a talented, well trained, second string Center, who had also been substituting in during the game. There was no hesitation on the part of the coach as she put in her backup center to finish the game.
God is our coach. His overarching goal is to maximize the exaltation and eternal life of his precious children. To bring about the best possible results He needs His children to understand, love, appreciate and act in their eternal roles. Those roles were not put together by happenstance but rather are part of His perfect plan. God needs His daughters to be women, and to fulfill their divinely appointed and supremely significant roles. God need His Sons to be men, and to fulfill their divinely appointed roles. Role confusion, role envy, role obscuring …only hurt God’s plan, and lessen its effectiveness.
The Guard may argue that her role is not as honored as the center. She may complain about the time and resources spent on her position compared to the center’s. She may demand that in the name of equality she be put in to replace the center who fouled out. However, if she wins the day…. the game will be lost.
It is not a game with God. Every soul is precious, too precious to jeopardize in order to appease selfish, envy based, complaints of those who Satan’s lies have made discontent in their divine roles.
