First, it is not just a compliment, it is a true doctrine as the Holy Spirit has manifested to all true followers of God, and yes you should have accepted it gracefully, as opposed to trying to dispute it with flawed reasoning, giving full sway to the culture of envy. Since it is absolute truth, then categorizing it as a lie becomes the actual falsehood.
It is not a double standard to reveal such a doctrine that applies to women, and not men. But the attempt to make it so indicates the flawed basic premise that men and women must be the same to be equal. The underlying flaws in most of the posts on this blog (Exponent) and on the OW manifesto, all come down to that same false belief that sameness is required for equality.
The Holy Spirit will reveal that it is the secular and godless who seek to demean motherhood, by making it sound like a lesser or stereotypical pursuit. Since the doctrine of its high and holy nature is true, then it is clear that while other pursuits may be valuable, none are MORE valuable. That is the true doctrine and all the envy based misinterpretations and misapplication of human reasoning will not change it.
Those who have been in tune with God's Holy Spirit, and listened to Him as opposed to trying to be Him, have long since learned that the Highest and Holiest calling is available to all of God's daughters. It is willingly myopic to try and force an eternal concept into the limits of a short-term mortality just to make a point.
The author is correct in claiming they are not very scripturally knowledgeable in that it is Christ and the Father who are the teachers of that truth, and it is impossible to chose to follow Christ, by imposing one's private desires and whims upon the godhead, to attempt to do something other than what they will for us to do. "I love you Jesus but don't ask me to be a mom!" is lip service. To sacrifice the selfish world of being what one wants to be, to be what God wants them to be is a choice and it is far superior to choosing to go against God's will and then to attempt to cover the selfish pursuit by trying to say it wasn't really Gods will after all.
Finally, it is a false premise to assume that motherhood is merely a biological function, though the world tries to teach that. Motherhood, the type and calling that is honored by the true doctrine, is a selfless, sacrificial, committed, and Godly pursuit that goes far beyond mere biology.
