to the "Expositor", the anti-Mormon publication, that eventually lead to the martyrdom of Joseph Smith. On a basic level the motivations and spirit of the publications seem the same.
Now to the revealing article:
--This article actually helps us to understand at least one of the thought processes of an ardent
supporter of the OW movement and reveals the source of her misplaced faith. As she speaks of missing out because she couldn't go to Fathers and Sons, it is clear from the beginning of her writing that the focus is always on her. She wanted, She felt, She thought. Clearly the perceived injustices of her raising planted seeds of inequality in her mind, which continues to be fed by the culture of envy, which the enemy of righteousness uses to his advantage. It may be a valid perception to her, that she was somehow unfairly treated, but it is not valid in the absolute sense. However since she is the focus of her world, absolutes seem to not matter.
--Her persecution complex bleeds over to her explanation as to why she joined the OW movement, that is….. She wanted to hold her baby for the blessing, no matter what anyone else wanted, or what was correct, all that mattered where her feelings and desires. This article reveals that her current actions and participation in OW are actually about trying to correct her perceived injustices of youth, and are centered in her experience, and do not consider who that participation may hurt in the eternal sense, not even her daughters.
--While the OW movement claims this was a camp out to kick off a series of "discussions", it does
not mean discussion in the sense of sharing pros and cons, seeking truth, or wanting to know God's will...those things have long been determined in their hearts and minds, but rather this will be a discussion in the sense of cheer leading, "apostates gathering together to reassure each other that they are not really apostate….. with a good measure of male bashing thrown if they follow their pattern of the past" Since the OW movement blocks comments on their facebook cites, Exponent blog, and you tube posts, at least those comments which point out the true nature of their activities, and the spirit in which they are carried out, it seems to indicate that they are not truly seeking a discussion to discover truth, but rather seeking a forum to teach their private truths.
